EMDR Intensive Therapy
EMDR Intensive Therapy is an evidence based condensed program resulting is faster desensitisation of traumatic and disturbing experiences.
You can choose to have your sessions online or take the opportunity to combine your hard work with the beautiful surroundings of Port Douglas or Cairns, Far North Queensland.
With an EMDR Intensive, you are focussed on yourself that week without work and family commitments.

What will my week look like?

3 sessions x 120 minutes therapy divided over three days online or in-person in Port Douglas and Cairns.

Intensive therapy has the benefit of fast integration for you. Due to the intensity of the therapy it is highly preferable you do not have commitments such as work, school pick ups or dinner preparation, to name a few.

Time in between therapy I highly recommended engaging in physical activities, research shows that physical activity during intensive treatment is an effective method to lower PTSD symptoms.​ It is important to plan activities during the time outside of therapy such as: sports or creative activities, use of meditation apps you are familiar with, nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner.

How will I start the process?

Book your 90 - minute consultation video call to prepare you for your EMDR intensive work. In this video call we will talk through your reason for therapy, assess for candidacy, identify obstacles. Gain insight in your unpleasant beliefs, body sensations, emotions or images from which you are seeking relief. And we will go through your prior filled out questionnaires.

After the conversation you book in your weekday or weekend EMDR Intensive Therapy program.

Receive your treatment workbook. This workbook is create more insight to help you achieve your goals.

Is EMDR Intensive Therapy for me?
EMDR Intensive Therapy can be helpful for people who:

You are motivated and have the ability to take a week off
-
You are able to notice and tolerate emotions during the sessions
-
You received a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-
Single incident trauma or witnessed a single incident e.g. accident or assault
-
Chronically distressing events (e.g. abuse or bullying)
-
Social anxiety, general anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and OCD
-
Depression
-
Low self-esteem
-
Individuals with a stable home environment, predictable work/study, helpful coping strategies and a supportive network

You have ongoing therapy and are looking to work on a specific issue to then return to their regular therapist
EMDR Intensive Therapy may not be suitable for some people. If you are experiencing any of the following, you may be best supported by traditional forms of therapy that offers ongoing therapy:

Very frequent and severe dissociation

Unstable home situation, work and/or social support

Recent hospitalisation
-
High risk behaviours or unmanaged substance use issues and acute manic episodes
-
High risk of suicide
